Background:

Toyota Land Cruiser LC80: Born to Conquer

The Toyota Land Cruiser LC80 stands as a legendary off-road icon, officially launched in 1990. But its roots trace back nearly a decade earlier, into the early 1980s, when Toyota initiated the ambitious mission to replace the aging LC60 series with something bolder, tougher, and more refined.

At the heart of the LC80’s development was a formidable challenge: blend world-class off-road capability with enhanced comfort, safety, and drivability. Toyota engineers sought to create a vehicle that could handle punishing terrain while remaining stable, reliable, and comfortable enough for everyday use.

To achieve this, Toyota deployed cutting-edge tools for the time, such as CAD design and numerical simulation, and conducted extensive field testing across harsh, real-world environments. The result was a breakthrough: a full-size SUV engineered to dominate trails, deserts, and mountains with unwavering confidence, while offering improved ride quality and interior refinement.

Upon release, the LC80 received international acclaim. It became a cornerstone of Toyota’s off-road legacy and a trusted name among overland adventurers, humanitarian organizations, and off-road enthusiasts worldwide. Its rugged frame, robust drivetrain, and enduring reliability helped set a new standard, and its success paved the way for future Land Cruiser generations.

More than just a vehicle, the LC80 represents a turning point in Toyota’s off-road engineering journey, where durability met innovation and tradition evolved with technology.

Introduction:

Authorized by Toyota, this 1/10 Land Cruiser 80 from FMS Model adopts the FCX10 simulation crawler chassis, which faithfully restores the off-road performance of the original car.

In terms of appearance, FMS maintains a consistently high standard. To ensure durability, the car body is made of PC material. The model is equipped with mirrors and waders. Through the transparent windows, you can see a high degree of simulation, including the detailed dashboard and cockpit interior. The roof features a luggage rack and four off-road lights, and a climbing ladder is installed at the rear.

The vehicle comes pre-installed with headlights, front, side, and rear turn signals, reverse lights, and other lighting components. The car shell uses a magnetic interface to draw power from the chassis, allowing the lights of the entire vehicle to be activated with a single button on the remote control. Additionally, pre-installed fenders help prevent mud from spilling onto the body and chassis.

FMS has also co-branded with OVRmag.com to launch a fully licensed edition. This edition adds KC vintage and modern-style lampshades, and comes equipped with HDR wheels and TOYO Open Country A/T III tires.

The chassis adopts a mainstream mid-front power layout with a four-link suspension. To better replicate the real car, straight axles have been fitted, but the larger tires still provide sufficient ground clearance and climbing ability. The mid-front motor and transmission, as an integral unit, lower the vehicle’s center of gravity compared to similar products, reducing the rolling center and the likelihood of rollovers. Meanwhile, a metal-gear waterproof servo is placed on the side of the battery compartment to handle high and low-speed switching.

To maximize performance, FMS uses a high-class brushless power system. Compared to brushed combos, the 50A independent ESC (6V/3A BEC output) and 3541 outer-rotor brushless motor provide precise linear control, allowing the vehicle to crawl at a snail-like uniform speed. The outer-rotor structure also has excellent dynamic balancing characteristics, which reduces the end effect of the stator coils and improves running performance.

For daily maintenance convenience, FMS has also made thoughtful design choices. The battery compartment can be flipped back or quickly released. All electronic components are concentrated in the middle of the chassis, making it easy to maintain, remove, or replace them. Thanks to FMS’s R&D capabilities, a patented knob-type quick-release structure has been innovatively designed. At the same time, the power and signal cables of the lights are perfectly integrated with the magnetic module.

Except for an adventurous spirit, you don’t need to prepare anything else—FMS takes care of the off-road journey for you!
